Customer Service In South Africa

For many, just the sound of those two words 'Customer Service' brings up less than great memories. What is it that so many other countries have gotten right, that we haven't?

Customer Service levels in South Africa seems to have many a customer up in arms, the only question is who is to blame? Are Customer Service Personnel properly trained for the positions they are in? Is there enough of a focus on continous monitoring and training of Customer Service…

Entering a strict market

As an entrepreneurship student and spending most of my time on campus I have identified some business opportunities I can pursue. I approached the campus director to trade on the campus premises but my proposal was turned down. I discovered that other students wanted to pursue businessses but have also been turned down. The reason being that the building we want to operate in is being owned by an independent source who is renting out to the univertisty, now the difficulty we have is gaining… Continue

Big Names Don't Necessarily mean Big Results on Search Engines

During 2010 Oink Midrand went National. In the process I tested the search market for telephone directories. I had imagined that the Big Name Brands who have been around almost forever would dominate results on search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. Research told me this was not necessarily the case.

Telephone Directory? Hmmm. That's a big key phrase. When you combine that with an area - Johannesburg Central for instance - and type "Johannesburg Central Telephone Directory" into…

Jimmy Manyi - What's gotten into you?!

So the debacle isn't just all hype and thunder for nothing, apparently Jimmy dearest has a lot to say about how Indian South Africans got to where they did. He claims that "Indians have bargained their way up" and I must beg to differ.

So Jimmy, I would call you a racist and I wouldn't bother mincing my words. Please don't take my reaction as biased simply because I fall into the category of an Indian South African. I simply think you have no basis to your claim and that you… Continue

The year will be 2020, give or take a couple of years. The year 2020 is when China estimates that its current minerals-intensive… Continue
